Originally, Shiba Inus were bred for hunting small game in the rugged mountainous regions of Japan. Their nimble bodies, keen senses, and tenacious spirit made them excellent hunters of birds, squirrels, and even boar. These dogs were highly valued for their versatility, adaptability, and their ability to work independently therefor they are considered an independent breed making them more challenging to train and also many breeders don’t recommend them to first time breed owners.
The Shiba Inu breed is known to be lovable, loyal, curious and sometimes downright mischievous. As the breed gains more popularity- its even more crucial to ask more questions, above we have a few Resources about the Shiba inu to help you make the right decision if a Shiba Inu is right for you and your family.
Axel is our first and original Shiba Inu. He came into our lives after a long search for the right Dog. This dog quickly became everything we ever wanted in a dog and more, he is the reason we developed our love and passion for this breed! Even though he is not part of our breeding program he has set the bar for the type of temperament and quality of Shibas we want to raise. Currently Axel is enjoying life with our family and helps socialize puppies when we have them.
Ayla is our beautiful import from France. She has the sweetest temperament! she loves people but especially adores children! Ayla has attended a few conformation shows however is not the biggest fan of showing or traveling. Despite not loving the show life she passed all of her health/ and temperment tests and has given us the most beautiful litter of puppies in 2023 and 2024. We are so happy for her to be part of our breeding program with all she had to add to the US blood lines.
Summer is our bred by puppy, a Daughter of our import Ayla and her Sire is Champion San Jo American Icon “Styles’. Bred by Lindsay Tompkins and Leslie Engen. Owned by Donna Gonzalez. Both parents seemed to have contributed their best traits and we are so excited to watch her grow and develop and start her show career. She was the sweetest, and most independent puppy of the litter. Since hitting the show ring she has earned both of her majors and is already half way to her Championship! We are so excited about our baby girl and excited to see everything she accomplishes in the next year.
If all goes well we have a planned breeding for the end of 2026. Details tbd.
